Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Department

CRI intends to keep pace with the rapid growth in the field of soil mechanics and foundation engineering and to contribute actively to its development. Hence, the soil mechanics and foundation engineering department is conducting a series of basic studies and research programs to achieve this objective. The major activities of the department can be summarized as: performing exploration studies for defining the soil stratification, conducting research in the area of soil improvement, especially problematic soils, to increase their bearing capacity and enhance their performance, and executing the required field and lab tests to determine the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of different types of soil interaction.
